Posy KC is an urban flower farm and design studio centrally located just off the Plaza in the Westwood Park neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. We specialize in growing flowers and foliage with interesting texture, color palettes, and unique shapes. Over here we like our flowers with some character, whether that’s a stem with a flair or a memory inducing fragrance.
My passion for gardening was seeded as a teenager working at the local flower shop with my sister and mom. The constant in my life has always been gardening. Years later, my husband Mike and I had humble plans for our home which we purchased in 2014. With dirt in our blood we bought a small bungalow with plenty of land ready for our adventure. We planted 49 trees, countless shrubs, and thousands of pollinator friendly plants. We eventually took over our dog’s fenced yard (sorry Betsey!) and ended up with over 1,000 sq. ft. of cultivated beds.
So, our urban bungalow has blossomed into a farmhouse. It’s truly a labor of love. I am blessed to be able to spend my days doing what I love and sharing the bounty with others.
P.S. - Want to learn more? I was inspired to expand my farm by listening to the Slow Flowers Podcast by Debra Prinzing. Listen to her if you enjoy well curated conversations about the importance of buying local and sustainable flowers. I met Lisa Mason Ziegler at a garden talk in KC, her website is a great resource for anyone interested in expanding their growing season. Check out her book Cool Flowers too. My most recent obsession is Ariella Chezar’s latest book Seasonal Flower Arranging. Enjoy!
